Publican chases highest price of the year in Mosman

13 Prince Albert St, Mosman has a guide of $18.5m-$19.5m.

Publican Matthew Fallon and his partner Tamara Martin are having a second tilt at selling their grand Federation showpiece in Mosman, this time with a guide of $18.5m to $19.5m.

The couple bought the 1907 manor in Prince Albert St for $10m in 2016 and then, three years later, brought it to market at $12.5m to $13.5m but didn’t get any takers at that level.

Now, five years later having given the landmark property a total revamp, the five-bedroom, five-bathroom house on 1254sqm of land is back on the market.

And at that price the property called Prince Albert House would be one of the top sales of the year in Mosman. The highest sale in the suburb, according to PropTrack, is $19.2m for 8 Windward Ave which sold in March.

Anthony Walls, of Max Walls International, has the Prince Albert St listing and said the appetite for prestige homes is huge – especially from buyers from the UK.

“Buyers are coming out of the UK in droves and there are big families and private individuals with generational wealth,” he said.

Prince Albert House is on one of Mosman’s most coveted streets and has Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House views. It goes to auction on Saturday June 22.

There are five bedrooms and five bathrooms.

The house features high ornate ceilings, leadlight windows, marble fireplaces, extensive use of sandstone, alfresco terraces, a swimming pool plus sauna and gym.

There is a triple garage, wine lover’s cellar and an abundance of storage.

Before it was renamed Prince Albert House the property was known as Candida.

Recruitment boss Jeromine Alpe sold it to Matthew and Tamara having given it a Giles Tribe Architects renovation.

Back in 2016 the house sold after only a week on the market.

Matthew Fallon is one of three brothers behind The Buena in Mosman. Matthew, Luke, and Tim Fallon bought the Middle Head Rd watering hole Buena Vista Hotel in 2015 for more than $13m before renaming it The Buena and relaunching it as a local pub, bistro, and cool bar all in one.
